The diffraction, refraction and reflection of laser irradiation on particulate matter are based on Mie theory, a famous algorithm of light scattering theory. The measurement of particle concentration is based on the principle of light scattering, that is, the particle scatters light in a certain proportion to its concentration in the surrounding space under a certain intensity of light irradiation. This technique allows for real-time analysis of the mass concentration of particulate matter and is suitable for classical gravimetry as well as rapid comparative measurements.
